Trust

Trust yourself! This may seem like a simple statement, but we find that the majority of people working out rely more on someone else’s words than their own experience!  Everybody’s body is different and unique in its own way, and simply following a general rule, over your own direct experience, seems a bit counterproductive.  If you’re working hard to maximize your progress, we believe that you must begin to trust yourself! So, if your body is telling you that 10 repetitions on a certain weight is too light, don’t stop lifting because you’re following a certain program! Simply do a few more reps, and perhaps adjust the weight next time.  Furthermore, if you get tired after two sets, instead of the three sets you are supposed to perform, your body is telling you it’s had enough!  We believe it makes no sense in doing that extra set, just because the program calls for it.  Basically, the concept is to believe in your own experience over someone else’s program, which probably isn’t designed exactly for your body, and is more of general advice.  So, sets, numbers, reps, and time, should always be determined on your own experience on a given day.  We find that this way you will learn the limitations on your own, and maybe surprised how far you excel.  So, Rep that thought!
